The truth? Anyone of any political persuasion interested in American national politics can and does subscribe to the enduring weekly collection of the best political reporting and thinking by my friend and San Diego lunch co-conspirator Robert Jellison which he calls DIRECT eZine for Democrats. Republicans of all manner. Independents. Libertarians. Nihilist surfers. California Democrats. Regular Democrats. Sober people. Limousine liberals. Circus worker, and carnies. SoCal’s uber-flakey wine, woods, poetry and cat therapist crowd, too. I subscribe. My GOP Mom does. As of last week, my disassembled college freshman year roommate, “Space”. I never learned Space’s real name. And finally my most right-wing childhood friend, Ernie from Glen Burnie, fabled DC defense-side trial and lobbyist who still has his staff open sub-files for all native Americans issues, political or legal, under the umbrella “Pollution, Natural Resources & Spill Defense” because somehow “American Indians are part of the environment.”
This week’s edition of Jellison’s respected DIRECT eZine is number 879. 879 weeks of great reading in politics. And do see my friend and mentor’s CV, or Career Summary. Bob Jellison is a retired Naval aviator with over 100 combat missions over North Viet Nam, the grateful beneficiary of an unquestionably golden military career and a recipient of awards and lifetime recognitions–roughly equally divided in number–from the U.S. Navy and a wide but interesting array of power corners in the Democratic Party. You don’t see careers like Bob’s that much. In California, or any of regular states.
